Electrical Quantity Surveyor – Data Centre Project, Sweden

Kirby Group Engineering is looking for an Electrical Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team delivering a major data centre project in Sweden.
You’ll work alongside an experienced project and commercial team, taking responsibility for electrical packages across valuations, variations, subcontractor accounts, commercial reporting and final account.
It’s a hands-on commercial role on a live project, with real responsibility and plenty of scope to develop.

What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you’ll work as part of the project commercial team with responsibility for:
• Preparing budgets, BOQs, forecasts and profit plans
• Managing subcontractor accounts, interim valuations and final accounts
• Preparing monthly applications, including remeasurement, variations, dayworks and contractual claims
• Managing payment certificates, subcontractor payments and retentions
• Identifying, costing and agreeing changes to the electrical works
• Managing subcontractor remeasurement, site dayworks and change orders
• Identifying commercial risks and escalating them early
• Monitoring material and labour escalation where appropriate
• Attending commercial meetings with the client and internal project team
• Providing accurate commercial reporting to the Project Manager and wider team
• Working closely with the Planning Engineer to ensure progress reporting reflects what is happening on site
• Maintaining accurate records to support valuations, changes, claims and commercial negotiations
• Negotiating with clients, subcontractors and their representatives
• Supporting the commercial delivery of the project through to final account
What we’re looking for
You don’t need to have seen everything before, but you do need to understand the fundamentals of electrical quantity surveying and be ready to take ownership of your packages.
Ideally, you’ll have:
• Experience as an Electrical Quantity Surveyor, M&E Quantity Surveyor or similar
• Good knowledge of subcontractor management, valuations and variations
• Experience with BOQs, remeasurement, dayworks and change control
• A practical understanding of construction programmes and their commercial implications
• Strong numerical and commercial skills
• The confidence to deal directly with subcontractors and clients
• Good communication and negotiation skills
• The ability to produce accurate commercial information quickly
• A proactive approach to identifying commercial risks and opportunities
• The ability to manage and prioritise your own workload
